At Perform Oxford at West Oxford Community Centre, our focus is not about teaching rigorous techniques, memorisation and repetition to produce a 'perfect performance'. Instead, we use drama-based games, exercises, songs and dances in an imaginative and fun way to help boost child development.

We started running classes at West Oxford Community Centre in February 2011 and are currently here every week during term-time on Wednesdays.

At Perform Oxford, the Producer of the classes is Luna and the Teacher is Jacob. The sessions are looked after by our Area Partner, Gemma.

The current term runs from 2nd September to 16th December with no sessions on 28th October (half-term).

How to get here and parking:

Driving from the ring road, approach west Oxford along Botley Road (A420) towards the city centre. The venue is situated on Tumbling Bay Walk, off Botley Road and next to Botley Park.

Parking on site is extremely limited. The nearest public parking is at Seacourt Park and Ride, located further west along Botley Road.

Local buses stop frequently along Botley Road near the venue. Oxford railway station is just a five-minute walk away.

Creative Team

We spend a lot of time recruiting, training and evaluating our wonderful Area Partners, Producers and Teachers and the team at West Oxford Community Centre in Oxford are no exception. As at all Perform schools, they have all been hand-picked for being enthusiastic, approachable and, of course, fantastic with children. As a result, you can be confident that your child is in the best of hands. Here are the details of the Creative Team at this venue:

PRODUCER

Luna

After graduating with a Musical Theatre degree and working as a singer and actor, I joined Perform in 2022. I absolutely love teaching because it's wonderful to see how much the children grow in confidence every single term! Outside of Perform, I do ballroom and latin dancing and on weekends can often be found waltzing and jiving at a competition somewhere.

TEACHER

Jacob

Teaching at Perform means I get to see children learn, have loads of fun, and grow in confidence each term which is wonderfully rewarding. I trained at the Guildford School of Acting and have been part of the cast of the National Tour of Blood Brothers; it's a privilege to use that experience to teach and inspire others.

AREA PARTNER

Gemma

I'm one of the Perform Area Partners. I'm so lucky to meet so many wonderful Perform children when I visit different classes and watching their confidence blossom throughout their time with us. My background is musical theatre and I have performed in many different shows in the West End and in theatres around the UK. During my time in Les Miserables, I got to sing at the European football final at Wembley and the 25th anniversary concert at the O2!
