Step into a time capsule and explore the events, people and places that shaped our world. Our curriculum-linked drama workshops transport children to key moments in history around the world, helping them understand the past through imagination, empathy and play.

Led by experienced facilitators, each session combines storytelling, role-play, music and movement to spark curiosity, deepen understanding and make learning unforgettable. From Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt, to the lives of Black History Icons and Influential Women through time, these immersive workshops bring history off the page and into the classroom.

Ancient Greece

Discover the fascinating world of Ancient Greece through immersive drama! Children will explore the lives, myths, and achievements of the Ancient Greeks and see how their ideas still influence us today.

From Olympic challenges to storytelling and Greek theatre, this workshop brings history alive with fun, active learning. Children will:

  • Experience ancient Greek democracy with a lively voting game
  • Warm up with an exciting Olympic-themed fitness challenge
  • Create freeze frames and adverts to showcase famous Greek city-states
  • Retell the myth of Persephone using storytelling and drama techniques

  • Explore the origins of theatre and Greek mythology

Exploring Ancient Egypt

Step back in time on an awe-inspiring journey to Ancient Egypt, where children uncover the mysteries of one of the world's greatest early civilizations.

Through immersive drama, they explore tombs, pyramids, pharaohs and everyday life along the Nile, discovering what archaeology reveals about Egyptian society and beliefs. Children will:

  • Embody Ancient Egyptian characters, including pharaohs, scribes and servants
  • Create freeze frames and role-play key moments like the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb
  • Learn and invent hieroglyphics to express themselves
  • Explore daily life, religious beliefs and ancient inventions through drama games and stories

Learning objectives:

  • Understand key aspects of Ancient Egyptian civilization, including social structure and beliefs
  • Use drama techniques such as freeze frames, improvisation and storytelling to interpret historical events
  • Develop knowledge of archaeological discoveries and their significance

Black History Icons

Explore the inspiring stories of four remarkable figures who changed history and helped shape equal rights for Black people over the last 100 years.

Through drama, children will journey back in time to meet Mary Seacole, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela, discovering their courage, struggles and dreams. Children will:

  • Build a timeline of key events in Black history, connecting past and present.
  • Experience roleplay scenarios like Rosa Parks' bus protest and Mary Seacole's nursing in the Crimean War.
  • Explore Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have a Dream" speech through freeze frames.
  • Act out the historic 1995 Rugby World Cup final to understand Nelson Mandela's role in uniting South Africa.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the impact of discrimination, racism, and segregation in history.
  • Recognise the courage and achievements of key Black historical figures.
  • Reflect on how history informs our ideas of equality and respect today.

World Explorers

Discover the thrilling journeys of some of history's most famous explorers through immersive drama!

Children will travel back in time to walk alongside Marco Polo, sail with Christopher Columbus, rap with Sir Francis Drake and climb Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary. Through interactive drama, children will:

  • Experience the adventures and challenges faced by famous explorers across the globe and through history
  • Use roleplay and freeze frames to explore the emotions and motivations of historical figures
  • Engage in physical activities like walking different terrains and a mountain climb assault course
  • Discuss the impact of exploration on different cultures with empathy and awareness

Learning objectives:

  • Develop an understanding of key explorers and their contributions to world history
  • Explore different environments and challenges faced by explorers through drama and movement
  • Reflect on ethical considerations and cultural respect in the history of exploration

Influential Women

Celebrate the incredible stories of women who have shaped history and continue to inspire change today.

Through dynamic drama activities, children will explore the struggles and achievements of influential women, from suffragettes fighting for the vote to modern-day champions of equality. Children will:

  • Step into the shoes of historical figures like Emmeline Pankhurst and Rosa Parks through freeze frames and improvisation
  • Explore difficult decisions and debates faced by suffragettes with conscience street activities
  • Create powerful adverts to showcase the impact of inspirational women
  • Reflect on their own role models and what it means to be influential

Learning objectives:

  • Identify key influential women and their contributions to history and society
  • Understand the concept of suffrage and the fight for equal rights
  • Develop empathy and communication skills through roleplay and group discussion
