Whether you're looking for a fresh angle on a traditional topic, a fun weekly after school club or an inspiring INSET on using drama in the classroom, a visit from Perform For Schools could be the answer.
Perform For Schools is the primary school division of Perform - the UK's leading provider of drama, dance and singing workshops for 4-12 year olds.
Every week, over 5000 children attend Perform after-school and weekend workshops at venues across London, the South East and South West. The classes focus on developing confidence and social skills in a fun and lively way via the performing arts. With over 15 years of experience, all our teachers are recruited, DBS and reference-checked, trained and employed directly by us. So, you can be confident that your pupils will be in the very best of hands.
These popular workshops use children's natural love of drama, role-play and improvisation to spark their imaginations and stimulate their interest in Foundation, KS1 and KS2 topics.
They are available for a wide range of subjects and each one is closely aligned to the National Curriculum. Explorers use imaginative creative resources, performing arts-based exercises and role-play scenarios to provide a new look at traditional subjects.
Individually designed weekly workshops running throughout the term based on a range of themes and designed to help develop confidence and communication skills.
Developed to provide a useful set of skills, best practices and resources on the use of drama to inspire creative ways of teaching across the curriculum.
Rather than using elaborate props or costumes, we prefer to focus on children's natural creativity, vision and inventiveness to bring subjects to life.
All of our classes and workshops use tried and tested drama techniques and our teachers encourage children to use their imaginations to recreate historic moments, rewrite scenes and stories, empathise with characters and get lost in an adventure. In our experience, that means children are able to focus on creating a world themselves leading to better retention and a greater depth of understanding of the material covered.
Not only will the children be immersed in the chosen topic, they'll also be developing the 4 Cs (confidence, communication, concentration and coordination) and having fun at the same time. What could be better?
All of our workshops have been designed in line with the National Curriculum and our Imagination First protocol ensures that all children have the opportunity to improvise, devise and script drama without limitations. Pupils will be able to adopt, create and sustain a range of roles, responding appropriately to others in role and participate in the artistic practice of drama.
The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the staff attending were very impressed too! How Emily had each child captivated and fully immersed in the experience was lovely to see. A truly fabulous morning! Ms. C Sharps
We have always enjoyed Perform coming to our school and leading these drama workshops. James was absolutely brilliant from the word go. On arrival he was very friendly and asked many questions to inform him of the children he would be seeing and protocols we have. He led his workshops with great energy and enthusiasm despite the hot conditions of our hall. The children loved every minute of it! Sara Bond
The children and staff were absolutely buzzing after the workshop thanks to Rhia. Mrs T Thomas
