Perform for Schools
Bringing learning to life through drama
Perform for Schools is the primary school division of Perform, working with schools to deliver in-depth curriculum-based drama workshops and free workshops to school children.
So far this year, Perform have delivered over 3,000 workshops in schools and run over 30 After School Clubs every week. Our Explorer curriculum-based workshops are varied and we ensure that each and every one is filled with engaged learning for the children, usually linked to a topic they are covering at school.
We could be journeying back to the Great Fire of London: re-enacting baker Thomas Farynor finishing his final bake, extinguishing his fire and going to bed as we then feel the panic rise on the streets of London. We may be trekking deep in the Rainforest, looking up at the heavy canopy and down at the forest floor as we spot some amazing (and somtimes scary) creatures! Or we might be bringing some amazing pieces of literature to life, helping the children to get a new perspective whilst deepening their understanding. From We're Going on a Bear Hunt to A Midsummer Night's Dream, we love bringing a story to life using improvisation, drama and adventure.
What schools say about us
We're proud to receive some amazing feedback from the schools we visit and are pleased to get so many repeat bookings. We know our facilitators are amazing but it's always lovely to get great feedback! Do take a look at our Twitter page for wonderful action shots of the children enjoying our workshops plus comments from schools.
If you'd like us to talk to your school about running one of our workshops, do ask them to contact us.
What do Perform for Schools offer?
Explorer Workshops - Based on the Foundation, KS1 and KS2 National Curriculum, these workshops use children's love of drama, role-play and improvisation to spark their imaginations and stimulate their interest in a topic they are covering at school.
FREE Performing Arts-based workshops - Our Drama4ALL project offers FREE drama-based workshops to primary schools across London and the South-East. Last year, almost 350,000 KS1 children enjoyed these unique energetic and imaginative sessions at over 2,000 schools. Facilitated by a DBS-checked trained professional actor, each workshop lasts 30 minutes and is designed for a class of up to 30 children in a large space such as the school hall. Based around a different theme each term, the sessions are ideal as an introduction to the performing arts or a fun treat during the school term.
After School Clubs - Individually designed weekly workshops running throughout the term based on a range of themes and designed to help develop confidence and communication skills.
INSET Workshops for Teaching Staff - We deliver a useful set of skills, best practices and resources to teachers and support staff which use drama and the performing arts to inspire creative ways of teaching across the curriculum.
