This time last year I wrote about new year's resolutions - and this year (like the last) I'll be trying to make a couple of small changes and sticking to them, rather than setting myself up for failure :)

However, in addition to new year's resolutions, around this time of year, I always like to look back on the year to reflect on everything that's happened. This year, rather than simply reflecting, I've decided to get the children involved and make a scrapbook of 2010. Partially (I'll admit) because the weather's not been too fantastic and indoor activities are a must, but mainly because I know it's something that I'll cherish in the years to come.

So, I've printed out some of my favourite photos from this year and the children have got busy with the colouring pens, paint, glitter, stickers etc, and we're making our 2010 memory book - featuring gorgeous chubby handprints, footprints, and a healthy dose of 'creative' design.

In order that it doesn't become a chore, we're just doing a little bit every day, and fingers crossed, we should be finished by new year's eve - although of course it really doesn't matter if we're not; as long as it gets finished!

I have to say I'm really enjoying myself, and of course enjoying watching the children get good and messy and enjoying themselves too. I've never been particularly arty in that sense and I've never done scrapbooking before, but I can really see how people get bitten by the bug. Plus of course it means that I'm finally fulfilling at least one of 2010's new year resolutions - namely to get some of the hundreds (or possibly thousands) of digital photos which we take every year organised and into some sort of album.

So as we head into 2011, I'm feeling very happy indeed. I recognise of course, that my little ones probably won't enjoy scrapbooking forever - and there's every likelihood that in the future I'll be creating the scrapbook all on my own... But right now that time seems like an awfully long way off, as my two little cherubs giggle as they decorate each page. I think I'll enjoy the memory of making the scrapbooks just as much as I'll enjoy the scrapbooks themselves in the years to come.
